Physical Rewards
First off, sorry for the delay on the newsletter! The blizzard in NYC had Jon stuck for a bit without access to his PC. We’ve packaged up all the physical rewards for domestic (US) orders! Currently, we’re just waiting on the packages to be picked up, and shipped out! Jon was just able to get back on Wednesday so we're working out why the UPS pickup didn't happen but things should be shipping soon. International orders will be handled a bit later and individually as they’re a bit more complicated to ship out.
Progress
At the end of last year, we focused on creating documentation and organizing the project so we can start looking out for more team members. Currently there’s a lot of work spread between a few people, so we’ll be looking to try and change that this year.
As part of that we finally merged the Combat Alpha project with the single player project. This required updating how battles were loading in the single player, but now we have our updated battle system in the main project!
Enivronment Art Style
Our art has been in “prototype” phase for a long time, and we’re looking to find a style that fits our small team, and follows a good direction. Our focus is currently on sprucing up a single isolated campsite, and we’ll expand out to the rest of Zone 1 as we start finalizing the direction. We’re leaning into a low poly art style with some texturing, but it’s still very much a work in progress.
Next newsletter we should have more of an area called the “Fractured Plains” built out to show you all!
Zone 1 Layout Updates
In our narrative meetings, we’ve been fleshing out what Zone 1 will look like, and have broken up the main areas you can expect to see. Here’s a small map showcasing most of them!
Flow Whip
Aidan has started work on polishing our flow whip, with a new animation, and some new functionality to help keep Kaiya moving fluidly and predictably while using it. It’s not quite ready for showcasing yet, but should be by the next newsletter!
New Character
Introducing: Lilly Fern - Ace Trainer.
Lily is a overzealous and nerdy bookworm who loves frogs. Wherever she is, frogs can be seen hopping about (often a sign that she is nearby). She also has a giant frog (large dog-sized) that she rides named Simon. Lily is a youthful prodigy and has relatively pale skin, a big floppy green sunhat that looks like a lilipad, freckles, and long hair. She has a baggy transparent raincoat, big rainboots, and a rather oversized set of bags carrying scrolls, her mythren tome, and plenty of journals for taking notes- all laminated or waterproofed of course!
