Happy New Year!

We hope you all have had a pleasant holiday and new year! Small Leaf Studios has been taking the final weeks of 2021 to spend time with their families and friends and we are all looking forward to getting back to work this month! As such, progress from this month will be minimal and more focused on planning than anything else.


  • Zane has been working on updating Kaiya’s player model to include finished hair, alongside a fix to her armpit to create better deformations when she moves her arms!

  • Jon has continued working on the battle system rework and created the design for the editor for Mythren creation in the battle system. He has also started setting up the new attack editor to allow frame-by-frame editing of attacks and frame data.

  • Aidan has been working on developer tools for the movement system to help aid in level designing. He’s also been testing and refining the movement system!

  • Drake has worked on laying out the combat design of two Mythren including a reworked version of Raddapus' combat design.

  • Micah created some sliding sounds for Kaiya and has implemented them into the game.

  • Javon has worked on creating a mood board to help flesh out one of the four cultures found in Cochant, named Pravance!


  • While we hope to release the Dev Log around the middle of the month, don't be entirely surprised if it gets pushed back alongside next month's newsletter or closer to it. We want to make sure this new format is done well so it might need a little extra time in the oven to ensure its quality.

  • Kindred Fates had ended the year out with a bang and posted a fun new trailer showcasing their single player!
