Combat Alpha August Release

  • The Combat Alpha is at it’s tail end of development, and I’m excited to announce it will be coming out next month! Ideally, it would’ve been able to come out with this newsletter, but there were a few quality of life improvements such as a decent tutorial that are worth putting effort into before release.
  • Along with that, we’ve decided to give an extra key for anyone with access to the combat alpha. We realized along the way that it would be unfortunate to only be able to play the combat alpha with other backers, and this gives you the ability to play with a friend of your choice!
  • Just to set expectations with it being an alpha, there will likely be bugs and other issues! Online multiplayer is a tricky thing to nail, and we’ll appreciate your help in getting it as stable as possible
  • While testing, we noticed some trouble with knowing when your skills are available to use, so we’ve changed the UI to give more clarity when skills are available to use.

  • We’ve implemented a rematch screen so you can quickly get back into battles

Rematch-Screens

  • A move list has been implemented, allowing you to get detailed information about your character’s moves!
  • The moves showcase the correct buttons to execute them (even if you’ve changed your controls)

Moveset-UI

  • Keroair and Raddapus received their updated skill icons
  • We’ve added systems for public and private (password) lobbies along with invite codes. Previously all lobbies were public, meaning anyone could join as long as their were slots available.
  • We’re really excited to have the Combat Alpha out soon, and will post an announcement when we can give the final date in August!

Other

  • Aidan has been working on polishing the sneaking system for single player. There’s now better detection visuals for showing when a darkren is about to spot the player
  • Drake has been updating the character portraits for dialogue (to be used in the Combat Alpha’s tutorials)
  • Hallie has been setting up for our Single Player project planning as we get closer to finishing the Combat Alpha
  • Single Player progress should pick up drastically after the Combat Alpha’s release
