Combat Alpha Review
We want to hear your feedback! Added below is a link to a survey to help us gain your insight on the combat alpha.
Progress
With the combat alpha out, we’ve been able to focus more heavily on getting our single player systems cleaned up and improved
Campsites and Movement Abilities
Originally, we had plans to have a separate “Home Island” where you did activities like training with your Mythren, doing small activities together, and interacting with NPCs who visited. We’ve realized that it added loading times, another environment to manage, and friction to the main gameplay loop on the Wild Isles. We’re now adding camps to the wild isles that serve as hubs similar to the home island. It also allows us to have different camps have different activities and scenery, so as you unlock them you can choose your favorite one to rest at!
Kaiya has also gained some new movement abilities and improvements to the old ones. We’re still working on these features, and we’ll showcase them once theyre fully ready, but it should allow for moving around the wild isles in a way that feels much smoother than its previous iteration.
While setting up these campsites and movement abilities, we’ve been improving a lot of the old systems on the single player side to make making future content easier.
General Updates
- Aidan has been working heavily in the movement system. He wrapped up the Slide knockback skill and made sure Coyote Time works with the new updates as well, along with the sliding/cliff sliding skills. He is currently working on UI that shows how close you are to encountering a darkren/trainer, and stealth areas.
- Jon worked on Single player combat, reviewing “Skeleton Patch” Milestones, worked on Improvements to Sliding, and 3 new abilities for the Player Character, campsite system with random mythren behaviors, system Design for Progression and Darkren Combat and on creating the Combat Alpha Survey.
- Hallie worked with Jon on creating the Combat Alpha Survey and on organizing the Skeleton Patch Milestones.
- Drake started work on Graccoon Progression Trees and further Evo combat designs
- Zane has been working on writing for Act 1 and overall worldbuilding, as well as Level design for Zone 1
Physical Rewards
We’ve started work with a manufacturer on the tumblers! The plushies have been made and stored for a long time now, and now with the Combat alpha out of the way, we’re aiming to finish up the tumblers and get everything out at the same time. The exact time frame for when they’ll be finished isn’t set in stone yet, but we will keep you all updated and will send out a reminder on BackerKit once we need to charge for shipping when everything is ready.
Steam Page
Our Steam Page is live! So please wishlist if you have not already! Wishlist Here!
Steam is showing Mythren as free, which it is not, we’re still working that out with steam! There is no download available though, so there's nothing to worry about there.
